Public Affairs
Public Affairs considerations must be taken into account across all financial communications programmes and remain closely coordinated, monitored and addressed. With increased scrutiny of businesses from broad and varied stakeholder groups including trade unions, the interests are far reaching.
Large M&A transactions can have substantial governmental, regulatory, legal and monopoly implications as well as being socially sensitive. Likewise, major contracts, restructurings and employment changes have substantial impacts on local and regional communities, with significant consequences and therefore require communication with audiences across varied stakeholder groups outside the financial community. Financial reporting and strategic announcements require a deep knowledge not only of the company, but of up to date changes imposed by the FSA, The Treasury, Bank of England, OFT, DEFRA, Brussels, the US and other International bodies alike.
Merlin has a multi-dimensional approach to all communications, ensuring that Public Affairs interests are appropriately considered and incorporated as part of any strategy.
Recent projects have included consultation and liaison programmes with government bodies and regulators. In-depth preparation has been undertaken for Select Committee enquiries and hearings, and multi-jurisdictional litigation support.
