The Merlin team has wide-ranging experience in the Energy & Utilities sectors extending back to the UK electricity and coal privatisations, and most recently with the restructuring of the Russian power sector and the high profile issues of the Central European gas distribution market.

We have advised both public and private companies in electricity generation, nuclear power, renewable and green energy initiatives, gas trading, carbon trading and offsetting. Recent clients and experience have included:  the international IPO of OGK-2, the Russian electricity generator, in London; the private sale of OGK-1; the launch of a GDR programme for RusHydro, the world’s largest quoted renewable energy provider; Kazakhmys’ acquisition of Ekibastuz, Kazakhstan’s largest power generator; the €600m sale by Christoffersen Robb of its wind power portfolio; and the Central European gas trading company Centragas AG.

Alongside financial communications strategy, we have also been extensively involved in public policy and CSR related issues in the Energy arena, and are associate members of the UK’s All Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group (APPCCG) and have worked closely with CarbonNeutral, one of the world’s leading carbon offset and carbon management companies.
